We all wish we had more time, but any spare moments we find can make a huge difference to the success of our campaign.


2 minutes to spare

Learn a couple of striking facts, such as:

"Debt relief, outside aid, and local determination has actually brought down dramatically the extent of AIDS in Uganda" or

"If wealthy nations did their part to help stop AIDS it would cost each taxpayer just pennies a day."

You could mention these facts in conversation and spread the Stop Global AIDS Campaign in the most effective way possible – by word of mouth

• Sign in at our Online Action Center and send a quick email to your political leaders, such as member of Congress and President, or to a corporate leader. Click here to sign in. Plus tell your friends about our campaign or you can send them an email greeting HERE.

• Telephone in your concerns about the global AIDS crisis to the offices of political leaders, such as your members of Congress. You'll find contact info for many of them HERE. US residents, please call the White House Comment Line at 202-456-1111.

• Put a Stop Global AIDS Campaign poster in a prominent place. Download a letter-sized poster of the Stop Global AIDS Campaign logo HERE and post it in a public place. Click HERE for more posters and flyers you can post.


5 minutes to spare

• Contact Our Partner Organizations, to find who is active in your area. Or, send an email to localinfo@stopgobalaids.org, let us know where you live, and we'll do our best to find a local contact or refer you to a Partner Organization.

• Buy an AIDS pin and wear it every day. Tell people what it stands for and what they can do to help stop the crisis. Get ordering info HERE.


15 minutes to spare

• Don't underestimate the power of a handwritten letter. The materials are simple – paper, pen, envelope, and a stamp! Click HERE for more ideas that make letter writing to stop global AIDS easy and fun.

• Call in to a talk radio or TV call-in program and say you think it's about time we got serious about stopping the global AIDS crisis. In the US start with C-Span's Washington Journal.


Over 15 minutes to spare

• Participate in the Postcard Campaign, sponsored by Physicians for Human Rights – paste a personal photograph on the pre-designed postcard, to make a strong impression on your legislator. With thousands of these cards pouring in, Congress will get the message! It's easy and a great activity for individuals or groups. For info click HERE.

• Drop by the local office of a political representative – such as your member of Congress or Member of Parliament. Explain that you'd like to see the representative help stop global AIDS and cancel debt. Request a face-to-face meeting for when the representative is in town. You do not have to be an expert! You'll find contact info for US legislators HERE.

• Set up a table with an eye-catching sign, paper, pens, and envelopes, action alerts, AIDS Alert Sign-up Sheet, and spare copies of fact sheets about the crisis. Ask passers-by to write letters and take a minute to call their political leaders with their mobile phones.

• Show a video. Call a small meeting together of members of your community to learn more together and take action. Get things going right away by picking one simple action to do together, such as writing and addressing hand-written letters during the meeting. Then plan and carry out a simple event together, such as a global AIDS video showing. Try showing "Coming to Say Goodbye ", "Epidemic Africa" or "A Generation of Hope." • Look for articles in your newspaper that give you an opening to send in a short letter to the editor on the AIDS and debt crises. You'll find tips on writing letters to the editor HERE. It's much easier than you think!
